Payment processing times may vary depending on several factors, such as the payment method, currency, local bank holidays, cut-off hours, and ad-hoc security checks from the payment services.
As a rule, payments go through different phases from creation until they are considered paid out. The payment charge will occur on the date agreed upon in your payment schedule, but the cleared-out date will vary depending on the aforementioned reasons.
This is especially important to note because it can affect the dates you’ll receive the credit for each deal. Please note that the credit is only sent once the first debit from your customer is completely processed.
In general lines, for Direct Debit Payments
- If your bank account and your Buyer’s use US Dollars, you can expect to receive the credit in your bank account in up to 4 business days.
- If you or your Buyer’s bank account uses another currency, the credit can take up to 7 business days to reach your bank account.
Why do payout times vary by region/country?
Direct debit in all countries is architected using one or more clearing house associations (ACH = Automated Clearing House). In each country/region the governing body and other bank-only associations control and process all credits and debits to bank accounts. For example, in the US, NACHA (National Automated Clearinghouse Association) manages the ACH network, the backbone for the electronic movement of money in the United States. Examples of different clearing house models include:
- ACH Direct Debits
- Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA)
- Direct Debit UK (BACS)
- Canadian Pre-Authorized Debit (PAD)
Due to the different clearing house models (in different countries) and their processing time to debit one party and credit the other, direct debit takes anywhere from 2-7 days. Capchase has no control over the standard amount of time each governing clearing house association takes to:
- Debit the buyer's account
- Credit our account
- Return a direct debit failure response
Credit Card
You can expect to receive funds for your buyer’s credit card payments on the next business day, and this applies to all regions. Please note that credit card payments are subject to service-incurred fees and are only available based on requested evaluation.
